Brownstown-St. Elmo continued its undefeated run through the National Trail Conference regular season schedule, beating South Central 61-12 in National Trail Conference action on Tuesday night. The Lady Cougars were held to just a single basket in the first quarter as the Lady Bombers used a 26-2 run to open the game up early. BSE’s scoring slowed in the second quarter, but the most anticipated basket of the game came with 4:46 remaining when Lady Bombers junior guard Dayana Haslett pulled up from just to the right of the top of the key and drained the three-pointer to give her 15 points on the evening and to also put her at 1,839 career points making her the all-time leading scorer in BSE girls basketball history as she surpassed 2020 graduate Claire (Wilhour) Warchol. After Haslett’s record setting basket, the Lady Bombers pushed their lead to 40-7 at halftime. South Central continued to struggle offensively, adding on just five more points in the third quarter as the BSE lead grew to 54-12 to end the third quarter. A 7-0 run through the fourth quarter finished off the win for the Lady Bombers over the Lady Cougars. BSE moves to 25-2 on the season and to 7-0 in the NTC. They will have another MTC matchup on Thursday at St. Anthony. South Central falls to 4-15 on the season and to 1-7 in the NTC, They will be on the road tonight to take on St. Anthony.
