Vandals 7th grade boys basketball falls in State Tournament Quarterfinals


A rough 3rd quarter was too much to overcome, as the Vandals 7th grade boys basketball team suffered a 49 to 37 loss to Lisle in the Class 7-3A Quarterfinals at El Paso-Gridley High School on Saturday.

The Vandals and Lisle stayed very close throughout the 1st half with the Vandals down 11 to 10 after 1 quarter of play and trailing 19 to 17 at halftime, making it anyone’s game in the second half.  But, the Vandals struggled with turnovers in the 3rd quarter and were outscored 13 to 4 to see Lisle take a double-digit lead.  The Vandals would be able get some turnovers and hit some shots of their own in the 4th quarter and cut it down at one time to a 4 point deficit.  But, they were unable to get any closer and took the quarterfinals loss.

For the Vandals, they finish their 7th grade season at 21-5 and winning both a Regional and Sectional title.
