Vandalia overcame a slow start with a big second quarter but couldn’t hold off DuQuoin in the fourth quarter as they suffered a 58-52 loss on Saturday afternoon. After being outscored 17-10 in the first quarter, the Lady Vandals went on a 21-13 run through the second quarter and held a slim one point lead at the half, 31-30. After a tight and even battle had both teams putting 11 points on the scoreboard in the third quarter, Vandalia clung to their one point lead, 42-41, at the start of the fourth quarter. In identical fashion to the first quarter, DuQuoin outscored Vandalia 17-10 over the final eight minutes of the game as the Lady Vandals were handed the 58-52 loss. Vandalia is now 8-18 on the season and will have another non-conference matchup coming up on Monday as they travel to Maryville Christian.
