South Central and Dieterich Fall on Second Semifinal Night of NTC Tournament

South Central and Dieterich both took hard losses on Friday night, as they fell in the Consolation and Championship Semifinals of the National Trail Conference Tournament. In the first game of the night and the second Consolation Semifinal of the tournament, South Central struggled to find their offense early on as Windsor/Stew-Stras was able to run out to a 23-6 lead over the Cougars by the end of the first quarter. South Central was able to get some offensive flow going through the middle quarters but was still outscored 47-28 across the second and third to trail 70-34 to start the fourth quarter. The Cougars and Hatchets combined for just 14 points in the quarter as WSS closed out the win over South Central 76-42. South Central drops to 8-15 on the season and will play in the Seventh Place game tomorrow at 11:30am against Neoga.

In the second game of the night and the second Championship Semifinal, Dieterich was stifled by the St. Anthony defense early putting up just seven first quarter points to trail 18-7 at the end of the quarter. The Maroons were able to slightly slow down the Bulldogs scoring but were held to just four points in the second quarter as their deficit grew to 31-11 at halftime. After being outscored 14-9 in the second quarter to find themselves down 45-20 at the start of the fourth quarter, Dieterich was able to finish strong, matching St. Anthony point for point, but the early deficit was far too much to overcome as they suffered the 61-36 loss. Dieterich drops to 16-6 on the season and will move into the Third Place game on Saturday at 2:30pm where the Maroons face Cumberland.
