Altamont Can't Sustain Strong Start, Handed Big Loss by St. Anthony in NTC Third Place Game


Altamont started the game strong but things shifted late in the first quarter and the Lady Indians couldn’t keep up with St. Anthony in a 58-20 loss in the Third Place game of the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament on Saturday. After trading baskets with the Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Indians trailed by one point, 8-7, around the mid-point of the first quarter but a 9-3 run by St. Anthony had Altamont trailing 17-10 at the end of the quarter. Altamont was outscored 10-6 in the second quarter with four of those points from Sophia Long, as the Lady Indians trailed 27-16 at halftime. The Lady Indians struggled to score after the halftime break as they were held to just four points in the third quarter and held scoreless in the fourth quarter while St. Anthony put up 31 points in the half to hand Altamont a 58-20 loss. The Lady Indians are now 10-11 on the season and are set to be back in action on Monday (weather permitting) at Ramsey.
