For the second straight season, the Brownstown/St. Elmo Lady Bombers have advanced to the championship game in the NTC tournament, getting a 46-30 win over the Altamont Lady Indians on Wednesday. The Lady Indians got off to a hot start on offense, outscoring the Lady Bombers 11-9 in the first quarter, highlighted by a buzzer-beater from Ella Nelson. BSE came out strong in the second quarter, going on a 15-5 run to take a 24-16 halftime lead. The Lady Bombers would come out strong to start the second half, going on a 14-5 run to enter the fourth quarter with a 38-21 lead. Altamont would not go away quietly, outscoring BSE 9-8, but the deficit was too much to overcome as the Lady Bombers would pull away with the 46-30 win. The win improves BSE to 21-1 on the season. The Lady Bombers will advance to the Championship game for the second straight season, where they will take on either St. Anthony for a rematch or last season’s championship game, or will face Cumberland for the third time this season. The loss drops Altamont to 10-10 on the season. The Lady Indians will advance to the third-place game, where they will take on the loser of St. Anthony and Cumberland.
