The Dietrich Moovin’ Maroons advanced to the Cosolation Championship of the girls NTC tournament, coming away with a 34-30 win over the South Central Lady Cougars on Wednesday. The first quarter was an offensive struggle, with the two teams combining for only 10 points, with Dieterich taking a 6-4 lead. The Lady Cougars got their offense going in the second quarter, going on a 10-3 run to take a 14-9 lead at halftime. Both teams traded baskets in the third quarter, with Dieterich narrowly outscoring South Central 10-9, however, the Lady Cougars took a 23-19 lead going into the fourth quarter. The Maroons would come out firing in the fourth quarter, going on a 15-7 run to come away with the 34-30 win. The win improves the Maroons to 15-7 on the season. Dieterich will move to the consolation championship on Saturday, where they will take on the winner of North Clay and Neoga. The loss drops South Central to 4-11 on the season. The Lady Cougars will play for eighth place on Saturday, where they will take on the loser of North Clay and Neoga.
