SEB Comes Up Short at Home In Loss to Edinburg

St. Elmo-Brownstown grabbed a second quarter lead but lost it in the third quarter and couldn’t catch Edinburg down the stretch as they suffered a 59-50 loss at home on Wednesday night. The Eagles were outscored 17-12 in the first quarter but used their defense to get them the lead, holding the Wildcats to seven points in the second quarter as they tacked 15 points up on the board for a 27-24 halftime lead. Edinburg was able to flip the script after the break though as a 17-9 run had SEB looking at a five point deficit, 41-36, as they headed to the fourth quarter. The Eagles were right with the Wildcats through the fourth, but were outscored 18-14 in the frame as they just couldn’t catch up and took the 59-50 loss. SEB drops back down to the .500 mark on the season and will have a chance to get above it again on Friday when they host Mulberry Grove in an Egyptian Illini Conference matchup.
