The Vandalia Lady Vandals held a three-point lead heading into halftime, but could not hang on, falling to the Pana Lady Panthers 53-49 on Thursday. After a slow first quarter that saw Vandalia trail 13-11, the Lady Vandals would go on a 13-8 run in the second quarter to take a 24-21 lead going into halftime. Pana would begin to battle back, outscoring Vandalia 16-12 to enter the fourth quarter with a slim 37-36 lead. The two teams would trade baskets and the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Lady Vandals struggled with turnovers, and the Lady Panthers would capitalize late to come away with the 53-49 win. The loss drops the Lady Vandals to 4-12 on the season, and 0-4 in SCC play. The Lady Vandals will be back at home on Saturday to take on Pinckneyville.
