BSE Rides First Half Lead To Big Win Over Nokomis

Brownstown-St. Elmo won their 14th straight game on Tuesday night using a strong first half to pull away from Nokomis and get a 51-32 win at home. Holding Nokomis to just six first quarter points, the Lady Bombers grabbed a 13-6 lead. A 17-7 second quarter run, in which BSE forced seven Nokomis turnovers, pushed the BSE lead out to 30-13 at halftime after a possible three-point buzzer beater by Nokomis was deemed to not have gotten off before the clock struck zero to end the half. BSE kept the pressure going in the second half, holding Nokomis to seven points again in the quarter and forcing another seven Nokomis turnovers. BSE got a lot of good looks at the basket, but as shots weren’t falling, they only added another 13 points on the board but it was enough to push their lead to 23 points, 43-20 at the end of the third quarter. Nokomis went on a 9-4 to start the fourth quarter and cut the Lady Bombers lead down to 18 but that was as close as they would get as the Lady Bombers closed out the win, 51-32. The Lady Bombers improved to 17-1 on the season after having won their 14th straight game dating back to November 22. They head back out on the road this Thursday, traveling to Mt. Olive before taking a week off prior to returning to National Trail Conference play on January 15.
