Altamont girls basketball won their last three games before the holiday break, but returned from 12 days off and suffered a 55-37 loss at Robinson on Saturday to end their streak as the second half of the season got underway. The Lady Indians got off to a good start, outscoring the Maroons 11-7 in the first quarter for a four point lead going into the second quarter. Robinson however held Altamont to just one point in the second quarter on a free throw and went on a 22-1 run as the Lady Indians trailed 29-12 at halftime. Altamont’s offense rebounded in the third quarter but they were again outscored by the Maroons, 18-11, and their deficit grew to 47-23 by the end of the quarter. Altamont held Robinson to just one basket from the floor to outscore them 14-8, but the fourth quarter effort was not enough as the Lady Indians fell 55-37. Altamont drops to 7-6 on the season but will look to bounce back on Monday when they are back at home for the first of four straight games on their home floor, beginning with a National Trail Conference matchup against Windsor/Stew-Stras.
