CHBC Comeback Attempt Falls Short at Okaw Valley


CHBC girls basketball got back in action after two and a half weeks and put together a strong comeback attempt after falling behind early, but came up just short in a 56-49 loss at Okaw Valley on Saturday. The Lady Bobcats were outscored 21-9 in the opening quarter and despite keeping pace with the Timberwolves in the second quarter, CHBC trailed 33-17 at halftime. Okaw Valley had a 13-10 scoring edge over the Bobcats in the third quarter as CHBC was down 46-27 as the game shifted to the fourth quarter. CHBC found their offensive groove and went on a 22-10 run through the fourth quarter as they cut away at the Okaw Valley lead, but the last quarter comeback came up short as CHBC took the seven point loss, 56-49. The Lady Bobcats had two players finish with double-doubles in the game as Lena Bowlin finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds and Carissa Wakefield had 19 points and 11 rebounds. CHBC is now 1-11 on the season and will play again on Monday as they will be in National Trail Conference action at South Central.
