Vandalia Boys Wrestling Begins Action at Abe’s Rumble Today

Vandalia boys wrestling will begin its title defense today when the Abe’s Rumble kicks off today at the BOS Center in Springfield with action from 60 teams competing in 12 pools. The dual team tournament will get underway at 9:00am this morning with six of the pools in action. The Vandals are in Pool F and will face Mt. Zion, Morrison, Illini Bluffs and Quincy Notre Dame. The remaining six pools will compete during the afternoon session beginning at 2:00pm and once all pool matches are completed, Round 1 of the Championship Tournament will get underway at approximately 7:00pm. The top two teams from each pool go into the Championship Tournament along with eight wild card teams who will be chosen based on pool strength, performance, and ranking. The 16 Championship tournament winners go to the Gold bracket while the 16 others go to the Silver bracket. Teams finishing third or fourth in pool action will go to the Bronze bracket and the 12 teams finishing fifth in pool action go to the Copper bracket. Round 2 of the Championship Tournament will begin on Tuesday morning at 9:00am
