Swyers Takes Second and Gray Takes Fifth at Jacksonville Crimsons Girls Wrestling Invite


Vandalia senior Brynn Swyers brought home a second place finish at 170lbs and Violet Gray brought home a fifth place finish at 155lbs from Saturday’s Jacksonville Crimsons Girls Invite. Swyers picked up a win Fall in 1:05 in Championship Round 1 before winning by Fall in 3:34 in the Quarterfinals. A quick win by Fall in 33 seconds in the Semifinals put Swyers in the title bout where she suffered a loss by Fall in 2:48 to Jaycee Weltekamp of Mahomet-Seymour to finish in second place.

Gray got a win by Fall in 1:50 in Championship Round 1 before suffering a loss by Fall in 53 seconds in the Quarterfinals to send her to the consolation bracket. Gray got a win by Fall in 3:46 in Consolation Round 2 and then got another win by Fall in 52 seconds in the Consolation Semifinal that put her in the Fifth Place match where she beat Moriah Lampley of Belleville West by Fall in 1:58 to take Fifth Place.

At 155lbs, Aydia White went 1-3 for the tournament as she lost in the First Round by Fall in 3:46 before getting a win by Fall in 4:36 in Consolation Round 1 and the took a loss by Fall in 2:50 in Consolation Round 2 to end the day.

At 170lbs, Marlee Carroll went 1-2 on the day as she lost in the First Round by Fall in 1:55 before getting a win by Fall in 1:30 in Consolation Round 1 before taking a loss by Fall in 1:47 in Consolation Round 2 to end her day.

At 115lbs, Briley Sefton went 0-2 on the day as she suffered a loss by Fall in 1:21 in Championship Round 1 and then suffered a loss by Fall in 3:15 in Consolation Round 1.
