The Vandalia Vandals got out to an early first-quarter lead and never looked back, coming away with a 67-52 win over the Greenville Comets in their first game of the 53rd annual Vandalia Holiday Tournament. The two teams traded baskets in the first quarter, but with the help of a 14-point quarter from Andrew Casey, and a pair of baskets from Lucas Bowers and Carter Robbins, the Vandals ended the first quarter with an 18-15 advantage. Vandalia would use a big 21-12 second quarter advantage to see their lead extended to 39-27 entering the second half. The Vandals would go on a 16-10 run in the third quarter, entering the fourth with a 55-39 advantage. The Comets would outscore Vandalia 15-12 in the fourth quarter, but it was too little too late, as the Vandals would come away with the 67-52 win. The Vandals improve to 6-4 on the season, and 1-0 in pool play. Vandalia will have its double day on Saturday, taking on Flora at 11:30 AM and Nokomis at 7:30 PM.
