Altamont boys basketball will return to the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament this year as it enters its 44th year of action that gets underway the day after Christmas with quarterfinal and semifinal games on December 26 & 27 before place games will be played on December 29. The Indians have drawn the #4 seed in a field of teams that includes top-seeded Waltonville, #2 seed Goreville and #3 seed DuQuoin joining Altamont in the top 4 while New Athens as the #5 seed, host and #6 seed Sesser-Valier, #7 Red Bud and #8 Marissa-Coulterville round out the bottom four seeds. Altamont has drawn New Athens for its Quarterfinal matchup for the second year in a row to kick off tournament play. Last year the Indians beat New Athens in that first round game 79-75 before falling to Goreville in the semifinals and then DuQuoin in the third place game to end up in fourth place. Altamont currently sits at 3-2 on the season with three more games coming up before tournament play with an away game at Carlyle on Tuesday and then homes games against Tuscola on Friday and against Cisne a week from today on the 22nd.
