The Vandalia Lady Vandals were able to hold off a late run from the Flora Wolfgals to come away with a 50-43 win in their home opener on Monday night. The first quarter was an offensive struggle, but the Lady Vandals found themselves ahead with a slim 12-9 lead. Both teams would pick up the offense in the second quarter, but Vandalia would outscore Flora 14-12 to take a 26-21 halftime lead. A 12-7 Vandalia run in the third quarter would put them ahead 38-28 heading into the fourth quarter, but Flora would not go away quietly, going on a 15-12 run, but it would be too much to overcome, as the Lady Vandals would hang on for the 50-43 win. The Lady Vandals improve to 2-4 on the season. Vandalia will be on the road Thursday to take on Roxana.
