The Altamont Indians battled hard on the road, but came up short, falling to the Cumberland Pirates 48-43 in overtime in the NTC opener for both teams. Points were hard to come by in the first 4 minutes of the game, but a pair of free throws and a three-pointer from Zaine Miller kicked off a 10-4 run to close out the first quarter for the Indians. Both teams traded baskets in the second quarter, but Altamont would outscore Cumberland 12-10 to take a 22-14 halftime lead. The Pirates began to mount a comeback in the third quarter, going on a 12-7 run to enter the fourth quarter trailing 29-26. The Indians and Pirates once again traded buckets in the fourth quarter, but Altamont would find themselves with a three-point lead late with under a minute left before Cumberland’s Cameron Roedl would hit a three-pointer with 13.8 seconds left to tie the game and send it into overtime. The Indians would get on the board first in overtime with a pair of free throws, but the Pirates would go on a 7-0 run to close out the game with the 48-43 win.
