Vandals Knock off Marshall at Cumberland Tournament for First Win of the Season


The Vandalia Vandals got out to an early lead, and never looked back, getting a 57-44 win over the Marshall Lions in the Consolation Semifinals of the 2025 Cumberland Thanksgiving Tournament. The Vandals had their offense going early in the first quarter jumping out to an 18-9 lead, highlighted by an 8-point quarter from Qwentyn Stombaugh, and a 6-point quarter from Andrew Casey. The Lions would slowly start to creep back into the game, outscoring the Vandals 12-7, but Vandalia would still enter halftime with a 25-21 lead. Vandalia would come out of the halftime break strong, going on a 15-11 run, highlighted by a buzzer-beating three from Casey. The Fourth quarter would be all Vandals, as they would close out the game on a 17-12 run to come away with the 57-44 win. The win improves the Vandals to 1-1 on the season. Vandalia will take on Newton in the Consolation Championship tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
