SEB Can't Hold On to Early Lead, Suffers First Loss of Season to Father McGivney

St. Elmo-Brownstown got out to an early lead over Father McGivney in their second game of pool play at the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament, but lost that lead in the second quarter and went on to suffer a 55-31 loss, The Eagles used a 5-0 run late in the first quarter to lead 9-4 heading into the second quarter, but the Griffins used a 20-10 run in the quarter to grab the lead and hold it at 24-19 at halftime. SEB struggled to score in the second half putting only 12 points on the board through the third and fourth quarters with just two field goals while their remaining eight points in the half came from an 8 for 12 showing at the free throw line. SEB’s loss puts them at 1-1 on the season and in pool play with one more game left to go on Friday against Mulberry Grove. A win would put them in the Third Place Game on Saturday while a loss would throw things into a 3-way tie for the pool.
