The South Central Cougars overcame a second-half rally on Tuesday night, earning a 59-49 win over the Ramsey Rams in the second day of the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament. South Central got out to a hot start from behind the arc, knocking down four three pointers, with three of them coming from Westin Neilson, and one from Hudson Moore to take a 16-11 first quarter lead. The Cougars would extend that lead to 16 early in the second quarter, but the Rams took advantage of turnovers and would close the gap to 34-25 entering halftime. Points were hard to come by in the third quarter, as South Central would narrowly outscore Ramsey 9-8, to enter the fourth quarter ahead 43-33. The Rams would cut the deficit to three points midway through the fourth quarter, but a pair of threes from Neilson and a four-point quarter from Aidan Hoover would be too much to overcome, as South Central would hang on for the 59-49 win. The victory improves the Cougars to 1-1 on the season and 1-1 in pool play. South Central will have Wednesday off before returning to pool play on Friday to take on Mt. Olive. Ramsey falls to 0-1 on the season, and 0-1 in pool play. The Rams will return to action on Wednesday to take on Mt. Olive.
In other games at the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament on Tuesday, Father McGivney defeated Lebanon 52-23 and Maryville Christian defeated Mt. Olive 79-31,
