South Central boys basketball opened their season on Monday with a new look after returning just one starter from last year and couldn’t keep up with an experienced Maryville Christian team as they suffered a 56-24 loss to open play in the Mulberry Grove Thanksgiving Tournament. After being outscored 18-8 in the first quarter, South Central was held scoreless in the second quarter and trailed 36-8 at halftime. The Cougars played the Lions nearly even in the third quarter, being outscored just 14-12, but remained behind 50-20 to begin the third quarter before being handed the 56-24 loss. South Central, now 0-1, on the season will look to bounce back tonight as they will face Ramsey in their second game of pool play at 8:15pm and we will have the broadcast of the game on 107.1FM WKRV and streaming live on www.vandaliaradio.com.
