CHBC Can't Overcome Rough First Half in Season Opening Loss at Nokomis Tournament


Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City girls basketball opened up their season on Thursday night and were unable to overcome a rough first half as they fall to Lincolnwood 42-29 in quarterfinal action of the Nokomis Tip-Tournament. CHBC was held to just four points in the first quarter and was then held scoreless in the second quarter as they trailed 28-4 at halftime. The Lady Bobcats began to put things together in the third quarter, outscoring the Lancers 11-3 in the third quarter to close their deficit to 31-15. CHBC again outscored Lincolnwood in the fourth quarter, 14-11, but it was not enough to close up the early scoring gap as they fell 42-29. CHBC starts their season off at 0-1 and will play in the consolation bracket tonight when they face Greenfield/Northwestern at 6:00pm.
