CHBC and Dieterich Boys Cross Country Teams and Altamont’s Dunaway Advance to Sectional Meet

The CHBC and Dieterich Boys Cross Country teams extended their seasons for another week while Altamont saw its team season come to and with just one individual advancing to the IHSA 1A Cumberland Sectional. At the Shelbyville 1A Regional, CHBC took fifth place as a team coming in behind Gillespie, Shelbyville, Monticello and Sullivan to earn an advancing spot to Sectionals as the top seven teams move on. Individually, Bobcats senior August Cosart came in fifth in a tough field that included three of the top 20 ranked runners in Class 1A as he finished behind Gillespie’s Chaz Oberkfell of Gillespie (ranked #1 in 1A), Sullivan’s Johnathan Iacobazzi (ranked #6 in 1A), Monticello’s Eli Anderson (ranked #17 on 1A) and Beau Green of ALAH.

At the Cumberland 1A Regional, Dieterich finished third as a team behind first place St. Anthony and second place Cumberland as Movin’ Maroons senior Trevor Crutcher (ranked 19^th in 1A) finished second overall to lead the team. Altamont came up just short as a team finishing two spots shy of the top 7 team standard as they finished in ninth place. Altamont will be represented by one individual, however, as freshman Kelton Dunaway finished in 16^th place to be on of the top five finishing individuals not on an advancing team. CHBC and Dieterich teams as well as Altamont’s Dunaway will compete in the Cumberland 1A Sectional this Saturday at Lake Land College.
