Dieterich Shuts Out Woodlawn in Five Innings

Dieterich baseball made quick work of Woodlawn on Thursday, using a six-run fourth inning to beat the Cardinals 10-0 in five innings at home. A double by Jackson Icenogle and a single from Dominic Ashley brought three runs across the plate in the bottom of the first inning for a quick 3-0 lead for the Maroons. Both teams went through the second and third innings scoreless, but Dieterich busted the game open in the sixth inning, taking advantage of Woodlawn’s pitching struggles and tacked six runs on to their already three run lead as they ended the inning with a 9-0 lead. After again holding the Cardinals scoreless in the top of the fifth inning, the Maroons put their leadoff man aboard after a Woodlawn error and a single from Traden Kessler allowed the runner to score to pt the Maroons up 10-0 for the run rule win. Dieterich is now 9-10 on the season and will get play started in the National Trail Conference Tournament on Monday. The Maroons are the #4 seed and will host #5 seed Windsor/Stew-Stras at 4:00pm on Monday.
