Vandals roll to home win over Southwestern to move to 4-0 on the season

The Vandals didn’t have the prettiest first half, but they got things rolling offensively in the 2nd half to come away with a 48 to 0 win over Southwestern on Friday night at Mark Greer Field.

The Vandals were intercepted on their first play from scrimmage and would also lose a fumble in the end zone in the 2nd quarter as they had a bit of an uneven 1st half offensively.  But, they did keep Southwestern off the board and also pick up Touchdown runs from Qwentyn Stombaugh and Dillon Hinton to build up a 14 to 0 lead.  Stombaugh would connect with Jordan Colburn for a 13 yard TD with just 25 seconds left in the 2nd quarter to get the halftime lead for the Vandals to 21 to 0.

The Vandals would score early and often in the 3rd quarter.  Stombaugh hit Kohnor Depew for a TD pass from 16 yards out just 85 seconds into the 3rd quarter to get the lead to 27 to 0.  The Vandals would add two more TDs in the 3rd quarter on runs by Hinton and Brody Matthews to get the lead to 41 to 0 and get the game into continuous clock at the 2:06 mark of the 3rd quarter.  The Vandals would also get a 16 yard TD run from Maverick Manser to get the ending score of 48 to 0.

For the Vandals, they improve to 4-0 on the season and are now the only undefeated team remaining in the South Central Conference.  They will be at home for Week 5 and will play a rare Saturday evening game when they take on Gillespie at 6 pm.
