South Central Knocks off OPS


The South Central Cougars got back in the win column on Thursday, getting a 14-3 win over the Odin/Patoka/Sandoval Eagles. The Cougars opened up the scoring early in the top of the first inning off of a 2 RBI single from Luke Shumate. Two more runs would come across to score off a groundout from Sebastian Kruger, and a single from Colton Tockstein to give the Cougars a 4-0 lead after one. OPS would cut the deficit in half, but South Central would continue to add on in the second when Garrett Shumate would single to score Chase Guerrettaz, and Luke Shumate would drive in Hudson Moore on a single to make it an 8-2 game. Two batters later, Isaac Guerrettaz would drive in two more on a single to cap off a 4 run second inning to blow the game open 8-2. South Central would add two runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings, and would limit the Eagles to one more run, to come away with the 14-3 win. With the win, South Central is 5-5 on the season. They will be on the road tomorrow to take on Neoga in an NTC matchup.
