Dieterich Falls to Neoga in First Road Game of Season

Dieterich baseball got off to a slow start and couldn’t catch Neoga as the Maroons fell to the Indians, 6-3, on Friday. Dieterich were able to stake themselves a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an RBI single from Andrew Hall that scored Jackson Icenogle and held that lead until Neoga tied the game up at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning. A two run third inning and another two runs being added on in the bottom of the fourth saw the Maroons trailing the Indians 5-1 before Neoga capped off their scoring with a final run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Dieterich cut into the Neoga lead in the top of the sixth inning when Dominic Ashley led the inning off with a solo home run to right field to cut it to 6-2. The Maroons would put runners at first and second after consecutive hit by pitches after the home run, but an infield fly, a sacrifice and a strikeout ended the scoring threat. Dieterich put one last run up in the seventh inning as Ashley came through again with an RBI single to score Traden Kessler, but the Maroons ran out of time as they were handed the 6-3 loss. Dieterich is now 1-1 on the season and will get back at it on Tuesday at Altamont.
