Vandalia softball couldn’t find a way to stop the Southwestern offense on Thursday as they suffered a 14 to 3 loss at home in their final South Central Conference game of the season. The Lady Vandals fell behind early, 6-0, before they were able to score their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning to cut it to 6-1. Vandalia went on to score two more unanswered runs to further cut into Piasa’s lead and make it 6-3. Southwestern turned things on again though with a two-run fifth inning and scoring three runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings to surge ahead to a 14-3 lead that the Vandals were unable to cut down on as they suffered the loss. The Lady Vandals are 7-18 on the season and finish SCC play at 0-9. They will wrap up regular season pay today as they host Odin-Patoka-Sandoval.
