Lady Vandals Can't Overcome Tough 2nd Half, Fall to Altamont 54-37

The game proved to be one for two completely different halves on Monday night as the Lady Vandals fell on the road at Altamont 54-37.

After tying the game early 4-4, Vandalia gave up a 9-0 run to the Lady Indians to trail 13-4 before Lanee McNary and Bailey Stewart hit back-to-back threes to close the gap to 13-10 and then trailed 18-15 at the end of the 1st quarter after a Laura Miller steal followed by a bucket and made free throw from Madyson Hill.

After almost two scoreless minutes to start the second, Stewart hit the first bucket of the quarter for either team to make it an 18-17 deficit for Vandalia before Altamont went on a 5-1 run to end the half and lead 23-18.

After playing Altamont close in the first half, a tough third quarter saw Vandalia turn the ball over several times gave the Lady Indians a 46-30 lead. The Lady Vandals defense tightened up a bit in the fourth quarter as the teams were almost even 8-7 in the period, but the last effort was not enough as the Lady Vandals fell 54-37.
