The Altamont Indians took control early but couldn’t hold off Lawrenceville as they suffered a heartbreaking 36 to 35 loss at home on Saturday night. Altamont spread the ball around in the first quarter as four players got into the scoring column as Kade Milleville dropped six points, Cooper McManaway and Zaine Miller each had five points and Ben Roedl assed two points in the quarter to get the Indians out to an 18-8 lead over Lawrenceville. Scoring would slow a bit for Altamont in the second quarter as they were held to just five points in the quarter while Lawrenceville would add on eight points and Altamont continued to lead 23-16 at halftime. Lawrenceville continued to chip away at the Altamont lead outscoring the home team 7-4, but again Altamont continued to hold a lead at the end of the frame, 27-23, as the game moved into the fourth quarter. After being held to just nine points in the previous two quarters combined, Altamont was able to score eight points in the final eight minutes, but Lawrenceville would have their best offensive quarter of the game as they would put up 13 points to edge Altamont by one, 36-35. With the loss, Altamont now stands at 13-11 on the season and will be on the road for two games this week as they will have National Trail Conference matchups at Neoga on Tuesday and at St. Elmo-Brownstown on Friday. They will then return home on Saturday for the NTC-CIC Shootout.
