Mulberry Grove finished pool play at 0-4 with losses to Flora and Cumberland on Saturday at the Vandalia Holiday Tournament. In their first game of the day, the Aces kept close with Flora all game long, trailing 20-16 after the first quarter and 30-24 at halftime. Mulberry Grove trailed 49-37 to start the fourth quarter and outscored the Wolves 17-14 in the fourth but could draw themselves no closer than nine points to Flora as they fell 63-54. In their second game on Saturday, after just a one game break, the Aces struggled to score early on and trailed Cumberland, 13-2, after one quarter of play. After being outscored 21-11 in the second quarter, the Mulberry Grove deficit grew to 34-13. The Pirates went on a 20-9 third quarter and the Aces fell further behind, 54-22, before a forth quarter that saw just one point between the teams would finish off the game in a 55-22 loss for Mulberry Grove. The Aces are now 5-10 on the season and will look to get themselves back in the win column when they take on Macon Meridian at 2:00pm on Monday in the 9th Place game of the tournament.
