South Central grad Spencer Patton has been taking care of business so far with his appearances for Team USA in the WBSC Premier-12 Global Battle. Team USA suffered a tough 1-0 loss to Puerto Rico in their opening game on Saturday. Patton was called on to pitch an inning in relief and used 13 pitches (9 for strikes) to strike out the side. On Sunday, USA got their first win of Group A play, beating the Netherlands 12-2. Patton again was brought in to pitch an inning and was very efficient, this time needing just 8 pitches (7 strikes) to get three outs. On Monday, USA scored late, but suffered a close 5-3 loss to Venezuela with Patton not taking the mound in the game. Team USA will be back on the field today to take on Panama at 8:00pm before getting a day off on Wednesday.
