Ramsey softball picked up a 4-2 win at home over Neoga behind a 12 strikeout effort from pitcher Olivia Carroll on Wednesday. The game would go scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. Macy Wright led off with a single to left field and Carroll followed with a single to left field as well. Both runners advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Bella Waggoner would then bring in Wright to score and advance Carroll to third with a single to shortstop as Ramsey grabbed a 1-0 lead. Melody Otto then came to the plate and a line drive single to right field would allow Carroll to score and Waggoner would advance to third as the Rams lead edged out to 2-0. One last run would come in for Ramsey during the inning as Waggoner scored on a passed ball and the Rams went up 3-0. Neoga would respond in the top of the fifth with a pair of runs and cut the Rams lead to 3-2. Things would get started again for the Rams in the bottom of the fifth with Wright at the plate. She, Carroll and Waggoner would draw three straight walks to load the bases. With Otto at the plat, Wright would score on a passed ball as the Rams lead was pushed to 4-2. Otto would foul off six pitches before a foul tip caught by the catcher ended the inning. Each team would remain scoreless through the sixth and seventh as the Rams would hold their lead to close out the 4-2 win. Ramsey is now 2-11 on the season and will be on the road today for an Egyptian Illini Conference game at Martinsville.
