Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City softball grabbed an early lead and held it throughout the game to beat Ramsey in Egyptian Illini Conference action on Monday. The Bobcats put up five runs in the bottom of the first inning for a 5-0 lead before Ramsey would respond with three runs in the top of the second inning to cut the Bobcats lead to 5-3. Each team would be held scoreless over their next two at bats before CHBC broke into the scoring column again with a run in the bottom of the fourth to edge their lead to 6-3. Ramsey would get one more run across in the top of the fifth inning and CHBC would match it in the bottom of the fifth as the Bobcats led the Rams 7-4 at the end of the inning. Each team would remain scoreless for the remainder of the game as CHBC held their lead to take the 7-4 win. CHBC is now 3-11 on the season and will take on Dieterich at home today. Ramsey is 1-11 on the season and will be on the road today at Odin.
