Lady Vandals Fall Just Short to North Clay, 57-55, in Home Opener

The Lady Vandals suffered a tough loss in their home opener, falling to North Clay 57-55 on Monday night.

The Lady Vandals started off hot offensively with 15 of their 17 first quarter points coming from behind the arc, courtesy of Madyson Hill and Lanee McNary, but cooled off in the 2nd quarter and trailed North Clay 33-24 at halftime. After outscoring the Cardinals 16-13 in the 3rd, 9 points of those points from Bailey Stewart, and then cutting the lead down to 55-51 in the 4th quarter, McNary hit a three from the top of the key with 11.2 seconds left in the game and was fouled in the process. McNary hit the subsequent free throw to tie the game at 55-55. However, North Clay’s Madison Lovett was able to drive the length of the floor and score with 5.4 seconds left to give North Clay the lead back. The Lady Vandals could not get in range to get a good shot off before time expired, leaving the final at 57-55.
