
The Greenville Lady Comets fell to 4A Belleville West in overtime Wednesday evening, 53-51, in the O’Fallon Varsity/JV Shootout.
Greenville led early taking an 11-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. West would outscore Greenville 15-11 in the second to cut the Comet lead to 22-21 at halftime. Going on an 11-5 run, Greenville stretched their lead out to 33-26 by the end of the 3rd.
Trailing 46-44, Comet senior Megan Halleman would hit a short turnaround jumper in the lane with 5.5 seconds left to tie the game at 46-46 and send it to overtime. In overtime, West would outscore Greenville 8-5 to get the 53-51 win.
Halleman finsihed with 21 points to lead Greenville while Natalie Iberg tallied 14 points and Rylee Pickett added 9 points.
Greenville is now 3-1 on the season. They will play Nokomis on Monday, December 2 at home at 6:00pm.
In the JV portion of the shootout, the Greenville JV Comets fell to Belleville West 58-28. Abby Sussenbach had 9 points and Gwyn Mitchell finished with 8 points.
