Vandals fall in tight one to Mounds Meridian at BIT


The Vandals battled back on Friday night at the Benton Invitational Tournament, but came up short as they fell to the Mounds Meridian Bobcats, 63 to 59.

The Vandals trailed by 5 at halftime and trailed by as many as 12 points in the 3rd quarter and trailed 48 to 41 going into the 4th quarter.  But, the Vandals battled back and held a 56 to 54 lead at one point midway through the 4th.  But, the Vandals could not finish it off–in one sequence missing 3 shots on an offensive possession late in the game.  The Vandals also struggled at the foul line—going 11 of 20 in the game and just 2 for 6 in the 4th quarter.  The Vandals fall to 10-10 overall on the season and 1-2 in the tournament.  They play 2 games today as they will take on Pinckneyville at 1 pm and then Sesser-Valier tonight at 7 pm to wrap up their week at the BIT.
