
Vandalia sophomore Chase Laack will make a return trip to the 1A State Golf Tournament after earning one of the 10 individual qualifier spots at the Zeigler-Royalton Sectional. Laack shot a 78 putting him in a four-way tie for the final two individual spots and led to a sudden death playoff that went on for six holes before the four was played down to the final two advancing individuals. Laack will compete in the state finals this Friday and Saturday at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington. Laack will play one round on Friday and one round on Saturday.
Vandalia also had sophomore Jacob Schaal and junior Riley Ruckman competing at the Sectional. Jacob shot an 82 on the day, while Riley shot an 88.
At the Charleston 2A Boys Sectional, Greenville’s Christian Bauer and Ryan Heath both failed to make the cut and qualify for State. Bauer shot a 90 to tie for 59th and Heath shot a 96 to tie for 89th.
At the Mt. Carmel 1A Girls Sectional, Ramsey junior Brenna Hayes failed to make cut to qualify for State. The Sectional host has not yet posted full results so Hayes final score is not yet available.
