The Vandals were held scoreless in the 2nd half as they fall to the Gillespie Miners, 28 to 22, at Mark Greer Field and end the abbreviated 2021 High School Football Season at 4-2.
The Vandals led 22 to 14 at halftime but failed on two strong scoring opportunities in the 3rd quarter, with both drives ending on turnovers. The Vandals had one more strong scoring chance in the 4th quarter, advancing the ball to the Gillespie 15 before the drive died. The Miners, who were down 22 to 20 at the time, marched the length of the field and took the lead with less than 1 minute remaining in the game.
