Sports reports the NCAA Division One Council has voted to allow voluntary, on-campus athletic activities to resume in football and mens’s and women’s basketball starting June 1st. The council is expected to address other sports by next week.

(Columbus, OH) — Ohio State football is preparing for fans in the stands this fall, but a lot fewer than normal. AD Gene Smith says they’ve come up with a social distancing model of 20-to-22-thousand fans, and potentially 40-to-50-thousand if guidelines are relaxed. Ohio Stadium’s capacity is more than 100-thousand.

(Undated) — The NFL is in for a big financial hit if games are played this year without fans. Forbes projects the league could lose 5.5 billion-dollars based on stadium revenue figures from 2018. Players would also be directly affected as they receive nearly 50-percent of total revenue based on the labor agreement.

(New York, NY) — The NFL is granting conditional reinstatement to Cowboys defensive end Aldon Smith. ESPN reports will be allowed to take part in team meetings in the virtual offseason program that starts next week. Smith was suspended indefinitely for violating the personal conduct and substance-abuse policies.

(Undated) — Expect NBA games to be played in Florida if the league is able to resume the season. The Athletic reports the NBA views Orlando/Disney World as the clear frontrunner to host games. The NBA is partial to the idea of a bubble city with players gathered in one spot. Las Vegas has also been considered.
