
Brownstown-St. Elmo took an early three-run lead and then held off Wayne City in the later innings for a 5-3 win at home on Saturday. The Bombers opened up the game’s scoring with a pair of first inning runs and edged that lead out to 3-0 with a third inning run. Wayne City broke up the shutout with their first run of the game in the top of the fifth inning to cut the BSE lead down to 3-1. The Bombers got that run back plus one more in the bottom half of the inning to go up 5-1. Wayne City was able to put up a run in the sixth inning to again cut into the BSE lead, making it 5-2 and cut it down further with a run in the top of the seventh but BSE held them there to secure the 5-3 win. The Bombers are now 4-5 on the season and next up for them will be a short road trip to Beecher City to face CHBC on Tuesday.
