St. Elmo-Brownstown softball was held to just a pair of runs and couldn’t stop the offensive outburst of Neoga in a 17-2 loss in National Trail Conference action at home on Thursday. The Indians scored two runs in the first inning, three more in the second and then bust things open with an 8-run third inning as the Lady Eagles found themselves trailing 13-0 as they came up to bat in the bottom of the third inning. Kadence Speagle led the inning off with a single and scored two batters later, coming in on the throw after a single by Brooklyn Landrus. Dayana Haslett then doubled to center field to score Landrus, cutting the Neoga lead to 13-2. That would be it for SEB’s scoring in the game as the Indians were able to score four more runs across the fourth and fifth innings and the Lady Eagles suffered the 17-2 loss. SEB is now 5-5 on the season and 0-3 in the NTC. They will next play at Altamont on Monday in another NTC matchup.
