After rain wreaked havoc on the area’s baseball and softball schedule last week, several area teams are getting back on the field today after several unexpected days off. Altamont baseball and softball will be back in action today with baseball at home against Newton and softball at home against Dieterich for a National Trail Conference game. CHBC baseball and CHBC softball return after six days off as softball will at home to face St. Anthony in NTC action and baseball will be at Vandalia as the Vandals return to play from a scheduled week off. Vandalia softball had their home tournament cancelled on Saturday after only getting one inning of their game at T-Town in on Wednesday. The Lady Vandals will look to play their first full game since Tuesday when they host Greenville this afternoon. South Central softball will play their first game in six days and it will be a big matchup between two tops teams in the NTC as the Lady Cougars will hit the road to take on Windsor/Stew-Stras. SEB softball will be at home today as they will host Martinsville for an Egyptian Illini Conference game. The Lady Eagles have only been off for a few days after their NTC game at North Clay got called due to rain in the bottom of the fourth inning on Thursday. In another Egyptian Illini Conference softball matchup, Mulberry Grove will be at Ramsey and the two teams’ baseball counterpart, Ramsey-Mulberry Grove will host Lebanon in a game set to be played at Mulberry Grove.
