Altamont Knocks off South Central on Senior Night

The Altamont Indians used a big 3-run fourth inning to come away with a 5-1 win over the South Central Cougars on Monday night. Before the game, the Indians honored seniors Brayden Elam, TJ Hyatt, Kade Milleville, and Will Reardon. Altamont would get on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Milleville reached on a single and advanced to second on an error. Three batters later, Millville would score on a double steal to give the Indians a 1-0 lead. That lead would hold until the bottom of the 4th inning, when a two-run single from Milleville would give Altamont a 3-0 lead, and Cooper McManaway would cap off the scoring with an RBI single to make it a 4-0 ballgame. The Indians would add a run in the bottom of the fifth with Brayden Elam scoring on a wild pitch to push the lead out to 5-0. The Cougars would get their lone run on the board in the top of the sixth when Ryker Dodson ripped a two-out double to left center, and would come home to score on a Luke Shumate single to make the score 5-1, but could not get any closer, falling to Altamont 5-1. The win improves the Indians to 2-3 on the season. Altamont will be back home on Tuesday to take on Cisne. The loss drops South Central to 1-4 on the season. The Cougars will be on the road Thursday to take on Brownstown/St. Elmo.
