SEB Held to One Hit In Loss to Cumberland in NTC Opener

St. Elmo-Brownstown softball suffered their second loss of the season on Thursday, falling to Cumberland at home, 18-0, in their National Trail Conference opener. Cumberland opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first inning to go up 1-0 and the Eagles would get a runner on in the bottom half of the inning but stranded the runner aboard to trail 1-0 at the end of the first. The Lady Pirates put up six runs in the top of the second inning to push their lead to 7-0 and SEB was unable to respond in the bottom half of the inning despite again getting a runner on as Brooklyn Landrus picked up the Eagles only hit of the day with a leadoff single. Cumberland kept pushing in the third inning, exploding for nine runs to push their lead to 16-0 before two runs in the fourth inning had the Pirates up 18-0. SEB again put a runner in the bottom of the fourth when Landrus was hit by a pitch, but she was stranded on base as SEB was handed the 18-0 loss. SEB drops to 1-2 on the season and starts NTC play at 0-1. They will be back in action on Monday as they will have another NTC matchup coming their way as they host Dieterich.

SEB Offense:

Brooklyn Landrus – 1-1, HBP

Dayana Haslett – HBP
