Originally not set to open their season until next week, the Altamont Lady Indians were able to add on to their schedule and opened up the 2026 season on the road at T-Town on Friday but suffered an 8-1 loss. The Lady Indians and the Lady Shoes went three scoreless innings to start the game before Laila Hankins broke through with a home run to centerfield to put Altamont up 1-0. That lead held for an inning until T-Town paired a few big hits with a couple Altamont errors and put five runs across the plate for a 5-1 lead. Another three runs in the bottom of the sixth pushed the Shoes lead to 8-1 as Altamont struggled to get runners past first over the last few innings and would suffer the seven run loss, 8-1. Altamont starts the season at 0-1 and will be on the road again on Tuesday to take on Carlyle.
