The Vandalia Vandals extended their season to at least one more day, coming away with a 52-47 win on Monday over the Flora Wolves to advance to the IHSA Class 2A Semifinals. The Vandals started slow, trailing 7-2 early in the first quarter, but went on an 11-4 run to end the quarter with a 13-11 lead. Vandalia would extend its lead in the second quarter, outscoring Flora 10-7 to take a 23-18 halftime lead. The Vandals would come out a little bit sluggish in the third quarter, just narrowly outscoring the Wolves 13-10, but still held a 36-28 lead going into the fourth quarter. Flora would battle back in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to 3, but Vandalia would use a 7-point quarter from Lucas Bowers, and a pair of free throws from Qwentyn Stombaugh would help the Vandals close out the 52-47 win. The win improves the Vandals to 18-14 on the season. Vandalia has advanced to the semifinals of the Class 2A Regionals, where they will take on Effingham St. Anthony on Wednesday at 6 pm.
