SEB Season Ends With Close Quarterfinal Loss to Wayne City


St. Elmo-Brownstown fell behind early and put up a strong fight but couldn’t come back in a 55-49 loss to Wayne City in the quarterfinals of the Altamont 1A Regional on Monday night. The Eagles were held to just five points in the first quarter as they found themselves trailing 12-5 at the end of the quarter. SEB got their offense moving in the second quarter and outscored the Indians 17-16 but remained behind by six points 28-22 at halftime. They closed the gap further in the third quarter outscoring Wayne City 18-14 and pulled to within two points, 42-40 as the game headed to the fourth quarter. SEB was held to double digit scoring as Wayne City went on a 13-9 run and cut the Eagles comeback short as SEB took the 55-49 loss. The Eagles end their season with a record of 16-14.
