Vandalia’s Dillon Hinton is a First-Time Champion at IHSA Individual Wrestling State Finals, Takes 157lb Championship

Vandalia senior Dillon Hinton is a first time IHSA State Champion after beating Aidan Kenny of Coal City by Decision, 4-0, in the Championship match of the 157lbs weight class at the IHSA 1A Individual Wrestling State Finals. Hinton finishes the State Finals at 4-0 having won in the Preliminary Round by Fall in 2:44, got a Tech Fall win, 16-1 in 3:10, in the Championship Quarterfinals and won by Decision, 3-0, in the Semifinals before his Championship win. Hinton is now a four-time state qualifier and state medalist as he took fifth place at 132lbs his freshman year in 2023, second place at 138lbs his sophomore year in 2024 and third place at 150lbs last year as a junior. He is the 8^th overall Vandalia wrestler to be an Individual State Champion.
